About 3D printer bushings

A slide bushing is a mechanical element responsible for smooth movement where sliding friction occurs. Having a slide bearing in place will provide smooth movability to a shaft of a 3D printer or CNC machine. This significantly decreases the level of friction and vibrations between two mechanical parts. Reducing the friction will mean less abrasive contact and therefore decreased wear. Using a bushing will also mean less noise and vibrations caused by the machine.

There is a range of different slide bushing available each with its own specialties. The majority of slide bearings are known for handling heavy loads at slow speeds. However, there are also slide bearings that are designed for a range of different speeds and load combinations. The material used for slide bushings is usually lightweight yet sturdy so that there is no added weight and swift motion is guaranteed. Reducing friction means less abrasion between a 3D printer’s mechanical components which in turn will ensure durability. Furthermore, minimizing abrasion and friction will mean you will need to replace your parts less, and this is why bushings are extremely cost-effective.

Maintain slide bearings for your CNC machine

Slide bushings are relatively easy to store and can be stored for a long period of time, as long as they are correctly stored. We recommend that you keep your bushings in the original packaging and only open it when it is time for mounting. Do take into account that many slide bearings are self-lubricating and extra greasing can hinder the performance.
